Survive The One
June 10, 2023 - July 23, 2023
Roberto Dyea, the artist, has a connection to Manga-a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels-because of the stories that they tell. The goal of "Survive The One" is to present a future of Indigenous art. The artist asks: "What would Indigenous Manga characters look like in the 21st century?" The subjects of futures, coming of age, power, and divinity are venerated through prints on the walls of the gallery. While they continue to nurture a deep connection to their tribe, their ultimate intention as an Indigenous artist is to have a meaningful interaction wtih the audience through their Manga. Through the mediums of ink, graphic, and colored markers they render their work in Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.
